I might have lost my hair, but I kept the moustache.

I design and I facilitate — same job from two angles. I draw the map so a room can see what it's deciding, and I shape the thing until it holds. I serve the work, not the workshop. I design for sustainability, not trends.

How it started

My grandfather had a line about me: JS never did things the way the other kids did, but we knew he'd turn out fine.

Eventually that kid had to pick a path. My father suggested I meet the graphic designer at his office. One meeting was enough.

Not long after, a G3 Bubble Mac showed up loaded with Photoshop 5.5, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and QuarkXPress. I still have it. It still works. Nothing came with a template back then, and no AI either — imagine saying "vibe coding" out loud in 1999. You learned by pulling things apart and rebuilding them badly until they held. By the time I got to college, I had hours of that behind me.

I still do the same thing. Just bigger. Way bigger.

I work fluently in both French and English — and I've taken that work well beyond Québec. For nearly two years, I consulted for a US-based firm, and my international conference work has brought me to Stockholm, Rome, Brussels, London, and Amsterdam.

Good leadership leaves no dependency. I build teams that are aligned around a vision, empowered to perform, and capable of growing on their own — ideally without me.

I've led people across 3 teams at once and supported sales and marketing. I helped a company grow from 20 to 80 in 4 years. My measure of success is simple: when I leave, things get better, not harder. Not that I don't like being needed — I just prefer being missed.

Honors & Awards

In 40 years, only a handful of designers have received the Young Business Personality – International Outreach award from the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Québec. I'm one of them — my mother is very proud, and still not entirely sure what I do for a living.

That same mindset won us a Radio-Canada AI Hackathon in 2018 — not because we had the best technology, but because we understood what it was actually for. Turns out understanding the assignment beats owning a GPU farm.
